October 2021

Our Autumn show held jointly with Holy Trinity Church took place on Saturday September 4th.

The weather was perfect for the occasion, warm and sunny, not too hot and many people commented on the success of the joint effort as well as the pleasure of attending such an event once more.

The show was an amalgam of a larger Autumn Show and the Church's annual Vintage Fete. Consequently for the first time, we used the church itself to display the flowers, fruits and vegetables, leaving Trinity Hall for the other competition entries, including the Children's Classes. This all allowed for more space and one-way systems respecting Covid advice. The Tennis Lawn was devoted to the many stalls, whilst the inaugural outing for the church field was home to the Plant and Produce stall, Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin and to childrens entertainment of  games such as Gnome Hoopla and Chuck a  Chicken.

We are very grateful to Reverend Julie Sear for allowing these new areas to be used.

Visitors made full use of the tea terrace with home baked cakes, and tasty burgers from the barbecue.

Trinity Fete regular Paul Stanworth acted as M.C. as well as performing many favourite songs and entertained us for the whole afternoon.

A good  sum was raised for the charities supported by both the CHHS and Holy Trinity Church.

We would like to thank everyone who helped to make the show so successful - members of the public for attending, helpers on the day and perhaps most of all, the unsung heroes who helped to transport equipment and to put up and dismantle all the tents, tables chairs and so on. We are really grateful because the show could not happen without you.

We would like to invite you to attend our AGM which will take place at 7.30 at Trinity Hall on Monday 1st November, giving us a chance to thank everyone with drinks and nibbles and to share our plans for the future. We look forward to seeing you there.
